How to Adopt a Kitten?
Welcoming a kitten is an exciting and important adventure. To guide you with clarity and transparency, we’ve gathered here the most frequently asked questions about how our adoption process and priority list work.
How long does it take?
The waiting time depends on several factors:
Desired breed (Selkirk Rex or Devon Rex), standard or DBE
Color, coat type, sex…
Preferences of previous adopters on the priority list
We have no control over female heat cycles, and we can never guarantee a successful mating until several weeks of gestation have passed.
Average timelines:
Gestation: about 2 months
Growth and evaluation of kittens: 3 to 4 months
Minimum wait: 5 months before an upcoming litter
Typical wait: 6 to 12 months
Kitten selections occur only after veterinary consultation, receipt of DNA test results for kittens, and evaluation of their temperament by the breeder. Once all these steps are complete, adopters on the priority list are contacted privately, in order, to make their selection or pass if desired.
If some kittens remain available after contacting priority adopters, those signed up on the informational list will be contacted via group email. This approach ensures thoughtful matches and healthy kittens.
We always prioritize quality, health, and good matches over speed.
Priority List & Informational List
We now offer two options to respect both families ready to commit immediately and those who simply wish to express interest:
✔️ Priority List (with deposit)
Deposit required: 500 CAD for a sterilized companion (or 1 000 CAD with breeding rights)
This deposit confirms your place on the priority selection list.
The deposit is non-refundable, as it helps support cattery planning and management.
Each family may pass their turn for up to 12 months without losing priority.
✔️ Informational List (no deposit, no obligation)
Free registration
Allows you to stay informed by email
Families are contacted only after the priority list, based on availability.
The breeder has no contractual obligation to people on these lists, but will send an email to all informational list members if puppies become available.
Frequently Asked Questions
What makes our breeding program different?
Prices can vary between breeders mainly based on care included and the quality of the breeding program. In our cattery, each kitten leaves fully vaccinated, spayed or neutered, microchipped, and examined by a veterinarian. Parents are DNA-tested, and kittens are also individually DNA-tested before selection! All are negative for FIV, FeLV, HCM, PKD1, PRA… and PCR tested to ensure lineage health and longevity.
Over 200 genetic conditions and traits are tested before mating and included in each kitten’s health file given to adopters. We offer full transparency at all times.
Our breeding cats are carefully selected for health, temperament, and pedigree, including several lines imported from Europe and Asia. A significant part of the kitten price is reinvested in wellness, care, socialization, and development over about 16 weeks.
How to Join the Priority List
To join our exclusive priority reservation list, simply contact us and explain why you would be the ideal family to welcome one of our Selkirk Rex or Devon Rex kittens.
After review and breeder approval, payment details are sent to the adopter in the official reservation contract. The priority list is intentionally limited to a select number of adopters to ensure personalized support and avoid overload. Once that list is full, only informational list registrations are accepted until new spots open.
The required deposit to join the priority list is 500 CAD. Accepted payment methods are:
Interac transfer
Credit card (with possible PayPal fees)
Cash
Payment details are provided only after first contact and approval of your application by the breeder.
