Breeders Mentorship & breeding rights
We don’t just sell a breeding cat: we pass on what experience has taught us.
We have been breeding purebred cats since 2009 in Canada. Over the years, the litters and the veterinary follow-ups, we have built an in-depth knowledge of feline health and genetics, including the Selkirk Rex and the Devon Rex. We want to share that knowledge with breeders who want to do things right: ethical breeders who set high standards for themselves and care deeply about healthy lines.
Starting out without a mentor means learning through one mistake after another, often painfully, and almost always at great cost. With a mentor, a clear structure and ongoing communication, the road becomes far simpler. That is why every cat sold with breeding rights comes with a true partnership, not just a transaction.
Who this program is for
Breeders ready to invest the time, effort and cost that ethical breeding demands, in their own country.
Breeders established abroad
Our cats with breeding rights are sold exclusively to breeders established outside Canada. Whether you are starting out or renewing your lines, the mentorship adapts to your experience.
Transport, import requirements and testing in your country are at your expense.
Partnership on request
No breeding rights are sold in Canada, except under certain conditions. A Canadian breeder may propose a partnership, provided they have more than five years of experience in the breed and meet our requirements.
These conditions help keep the Canadian market for these breeds at a high standard.
A shared vision
We choose our partners as much as they choose us. Ethics and professionalism guide every decision we make: the cats’ health, the kittens’ development in their families and the quality of the breed come before output.
We do not sell to breeding programs driven primarily by profit.
What the mentorship includes
Our recommendations are grounded in experience. They often go well beyond common breeding practice, and that is precisely what spares you so many headaches.
A pair chosen on paper
We start from your pedigrees and come back with a precise recommendation: never the same litter, never the same sire, a low COI and genetic room to move.
A testing protocol
Which tests to run, at which laboratories, how and when to take samples. And above all, how to read the results before every pairing.
Quarantine and biosecurity
Quarantine follow-up before any new cat joins your breeding program. Then our prevention and disinfection protocols, and our veterinary guidelines, up to the day the kittens leave.
Registration
Kittens are registered with the CFA, and transferable to virtually every international association, including TICA or the CCA, under certain conditions.
Ongoing communication
A question, a doubt, an upcoming litter: you are not on your own. The relationship does not end when the cat leaves.
Professionalism
Presenting your kittens, selecting your families, offering efficient and courteous client service, and building your reputation.
A rigorous testing protocol
In our cattery, no breeding cat enters the program on the strength of its pedigree alone. Our protocol covers four main areas.
A full DNA panel, with confirmation whenever a result calls for it.
Cardiac screening by a veterinary cardiologist, repeated over time.
Screening before any cat enters the cattery, and a monitored quarantine.
Blood type and inbreeding, checked before every pairing.
Behind these four words lies a considerable amount of detail. Laboratories do not all analyse genes the same way: some break down the same gene differently, and two reports can read differently. Knowing which test to order, from which laboratory, at what time, and how to interpret the result makes all the difference. We share this detailed protocol directly with our partner breeders.
No breeding rights are sold from our DBE or latent lines, except to experienced breeders within a DBE partnership.
Why a mentor
A hereditary disease discovered too late, a litter lost to an incompatible blood type, an infectious agent that settles into the cattery: each of these mistakes is costly, in money as much as in heartache.
Most of them can be avoided. You simply have to know they exist, and what to do before they happen.
A referral program
Families abroad regularly write to us to adopt a kitten. For many of them, international transport is too costly or simply not suitable. When a partner breeder is established in their country, we refer them to that breeder for a spayed or neutered companion kitten.
For a breeder who is starting out, that is visibility and credibility that usually take years to build. Families come to you with a referral and a relationship of trust already in place.
Beyond breeding
Breeding well is not enough: you also need to present your kittens, choose your families, answer with care and follow up in a way that makes people want to recommend you. Véronique had a long career as a real estate broker, now retired. She kept one conviction from it: professionalism is part of breeding. Efficient and courteous client service, rigorous follow-up and careful communication are part of the mentorship, just as much as genetics.
How the partnership works
Every request is reviewed individually.
The investment
Prices in Canadian dollars (CAD). Transport and import requirements extra, depending on the country.
Serious mentorship has a value: the value of the mistakes it spares you.
